What to do:

Hotel Ancora is located in close proximity to the fantastic beaches of Sanxenxo on the Galician coast. In addition, it is very close to other small towns that are very popular with tourists.

  • Sanxenxo Beaches

    Sanxenxo Beach

You can find a variety of high quality beaches along its 36-kilometer coast, including urban beaches such as Silgar, Baltar, and Caneliña. There are also more tranquil beaches such as Areas, Agra, Montalvo, and Major. They are well-known for their fine, white sand and crystal clear water that is characteristic of this coast.

This area allows visitors to take advantage of a variety of water sports including wind and kite surfing.

  • Historic center of Sanxenxo and surrounding areas

    Historic center

The historic center of Sanxenxo, just 4 km from Hotel Ancora, offers beautiful landscapes and a rich cultural heritage. Along the way, you will find the remarkable A Lanzada archeological site, where you will find a necropolis that dates back to the 8th century BC.

This area is rich in manors (pazos) and ancestral homes (casas solariegas), and in the municipality of Sanxenxo alone, there are 8 manors, each more interesting and beautiful than the last.

The churches and chapels in the center truly stand out. Some examples of Romanesque architecture can be found in the churches of San Xoán de Dorrón, Santa María de Adina and Santo Estevo de Noalla. Examples of more modern architecture are those of San Pedro de Bordóns, Santa Eulalia de Nantes, the church of San Pedro de Vilalonga, and the chapels of San Tomé (Gondar) and Santa Catalina (Portonovo).

Raised granaries, or hórreos, display another example of popular Galician architecture, and Sanxenxo features 35 that are of high value and cultural interest. Sanxenxo also boasts many fountains, bridges, and mills.

  • Pontevedra

The city of Pontevedra is just 13 km from Hotel Ancora, to which you can take a short trip to visit its center, restaurants and impressive infrastructure. Key monuments, such as the Chapel of Las Apariciones, the Las Mendoza Mansion and the Basilica of Santa María la Mayor, should not be missed.

Among its many museums, of special interest are the Provincial Museum of Pontevedra and the Poio Monastery Museum.
